This role will work with the company's business units to ensure that their operations and processes comply with the relevant trade (import/export requirements) laws and regulations. The role will be responsible for Trade Compliance for all countries in South America, with particular focus where IR has a legal presence and direct legal liability for import in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Colombia and Venezuela.


Ensure Compliance with international trade regulations and internal Ingersoll Rand policies.

Costs optimization in customs & trade related expenses.

Assume responsibility for the strategic development, delivery and execution of a standardized compliant trade compliance program to support the enterprise for the functional area of responsibility in coordination with the Trade Compliance Director.

Participate in and/or support the investigations, audits or disclosures regarding the company's import, export, sanctions or boycott compliance activities in the regional trade compliance functional area of responsibility.

Based on audit findings this role will manage/support root cause analysis supporting resolution of compliance issues.

Define, develop and deliver Trade Compliance training for the regional trade compliance functional area of responsibility. To be prioritized in accordance with the Trade Compliance Director.

Provide guidance on multiple international Trade Compliance matters as needed.

Ensure direct reports (if applicable) have opportunities for technical, behavioral and organizational development.

Instruct employees to a high level regarding the company's trade compliance policy and procedures.

Ensure functional area(s) of responsibility are conforming to the standards of internal controls. Periodically audit according to standardized audit program.

Support the development and management of the regional audit dashboard for open trade compliance issues in the region.

Develop, publish and maintain key performance indicators relating to Trade Compliance activities for the regional functional area of responsibility.

Monitor these metrics to ensure customer service level agreement standards are met and use these metrics to identify process improvements. Take corrective action where necessary.

Among other things (listed above), the Trade Compliance Manager will spearhead company-wide functional area trade compliance initiatives, serve as a substantive resource, and assist in audits.

The Manager will implement the company's international trade compliance policies and will coordinate goals and objectives with the Trade Compliance Director.

Assist in the management and communication with government authorities.

Oversee trade compliance related recordkeeping program and reconciliation process for functional area of responsibility.

Manage/support sector service level agreements and activities including regular business reviews in coordination with the Trade Compliance Director.

Responsible for identification and execution of continuous improvement to drive process improvement for the area of functional responsibility.

Monitor/audit and ensure adherence to policies, procedures and desk-level instructions relating to compliant international transactions within the functional area or responsibility.

Develop, implement and keep current standard operating procedures and work instructions to support functional area of responsibility.

Perform other duties associated with trade compliance, as may be required maintaining a customer-focused attitude and assisting the Trade Compliance Director.


Extensive experience in international trade area.

Subject Matter expertise in relevant areas of trade compliance (classification, valuation, authorizations [export and import], country of origin, regional trade agreements, etc.) is required.

Under-graduate degree preferred and/or equivalent work experience.

Preferred customs brokers license or equivalent certification.

Strong project management and computer skills (emphasis on Microsoft Office programs) is required.

The ability to function both as a team and as individual player with the ability to shift priorities as required by the global trade compliance team and business operations.

Proven ability to define performance metrics and evaluate internal and external service providers.

Demonstrated skills in resolving complex business challenges.

Strong analytical skills, be detailed oriented, and possesses the ability to anticipate problems and diffuse situations.

The ability to multi-task and ability to work under time constraints and business priorities.

Working knowledge of ORACLE is preferred.

Must be fluent in English (direct report for Corporate area in USA) and Spanish.

Speak in Portuguese will be a plus.

Position open for work locations: Brazil (Curitiba or Sao Paulo) or Miami.
