This position is responsible for the safe and efficientperformance of duties related to the set-up, maintenance and operation of the4-pallet horizontal machining centers utilized to produce compressor gearcases.In cooperation withManufacturing, Production Control and Manufacturing Engineering, the incumbentis responsible for the safe, efficient and productive operation of the machinesassigned.Safely produces high qualityparts to maximize machine productivity, perform tasks efficiently and minimizecosts associated with machine operation
Roles and Responsibilities:
•Calibrate spindle and fixed probes.
•Assemble tools in tool holders, install tools in toolmatrix, measure tools.
- Edit, load and restart programs; load andunload fixtures and parts.
•Perform material handling related to set-up and machineoperation.
•Monitormachine operation and make necessary adjustments to tooling, feeds, speeds and processdata.
•Identify and replace or index worn and/or damaged tooling.
•Identify and resolve cutting problems.
•Maintain tool inventory and tool data.
•Perform audit of part surface finish and perform partdimensional checks.
•Perform job-related tasks while machine is in operation.
•Preventative maintenance of machine and equipment.
•Maintaina clean work place, including machine, tooling, fixtures, floor area andworktables.
•Initiate and maintain the simultaneous automatic operationof multiple machine tools.
- Set-up andinitiate automatic operation of CNC machines for unattended operation
- Performs relatedmiscellaneous work as required.
Experience and Qualifications:
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the set-up andoperation of manual and CNC machine tools is required.The incumbent must possess a thoroughunderstanding of the selection and application of cutting tools, skill in shopmath and in reading complex part drawings, the experience and knowledgenecessary to identify and correct machining, tooling and fixturing problems,skill to read, understand and edit CNC programs, basic knowledge of personalcomputer technology and file structure.Must be able to follow verbal instructions and be committed to being ateam-player.
The position requires a self-starter who can successfullyapply initiative and ingenuity towards solving day-to-day problems and theachievement of long-term goals.
Must have high school diploma/GED at minimum.
